Representing some of the most progressive landscape artists working today, Messum’s are in a decisive position within the Renaissance of Contemporary British Landscape painting and have been observing a developing change in taste towards this genre, as reported by the Times recently. “Depictions of landscape are making a welcome return to artistic fashion” was the headline and they discussed the major revival of interest amongst collectors in contemporary landscape art.
This new exhibition ‘A Landscape Renaissance’ seeks to present some of Messum’s finest contemporary landscape artists, many of whom have enjoyed a long history with the firm. Although they present a diverse range of geographical locations and artistic techniques, they share a determination to push the boundaries within their medium, a belief in the importance of the underlying draughtsmanship and a deep commitment to their trade.
