Garvey|Simon is pleased to present New York Perspectives, a group-exhibition featuring paintings of New York City’s vistas from Anne Finkelstein, Cora Jane Glasser, Allan Gorman, and Gwyneth Leech. Epic and ever-evolving, each artist deploys a different technique for capturing their capricious subject. Contradictory elements form the foundation of all of the artists’ work: soft, brushy impressionism is a vehicle for social commentary, and hard-edge realism becomes dizzying and abstract. This collection of paintings is abundant with detail and kinetic energy, much like the city they seek to represent, and coalesce to create a multilateral and almost immersive view of New York. New York Perspectives opens on Friday, August 5th at Artisan Lofts, 143 Reade Street in TriBeCa. The exhibition will be on view by appointment only.
